The Anaheim Angels have a very interesting history. In fact, their name stems from the original Los Angeles Angels team that literally came from the “City of Angels” meaning behind the city of Los Angeles back in 1892. They were first part of the major league (now minor) of the West Coast called the Pacific Coast League (PCL) back in 1903. It was rather interesting because the PCL actually paid more than the MLB. Top players such as Ted Williams & Joe DiMaggio were apart of the PCL.
The Angels have a tradition of playing the song “Calling All Angels” by Train. Also, they have a tradition of shooting fireworks from the rock formation called “California Spectacular” after someone hits a home run or wins the game. The Angels have a number of big name rivalries such as New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Texas Rangers. The Angels’ popularity even reaches out into films such as the Disney film, “Angels in the Outfield” , and “The Naked Gun”. They continue to get renovations due to the takeover by the Walt Disney Company bringing back the “Big A” logo on the uniform.
