Attending a professional sporting event is getting pricier and pricier but it’s possible to attend an Anaheim Angels game without having to enter into a debt settlement program. Here are a few suggestions for keeping your cash in check while cheering on your favorite team:
Buy Tickets Online: If you can plan ahead you can save big money. Purchase your tickets on a site like StubHub before the day of the game for a reduced rate or better yet, buy a package deal from the official Angels site to score extra savings.
Maximize Your Food Budget: Don’t plan on eating a whole meal at the game. Between hot dogs, beer and dessert you can spend over 50 – eat before you go and if you feel like having something to snack on choose wisely on food that goes a long way like popcorn or peanuts.
Don’t Buy Souvenirs: It’s tempting to buy t-shirts and foam fingers in the heat of the game but plan ahead and get your gear before you go to save money. Don’t be sucked in my kiosks outside the stadium, either!

In 1961 The Anaheim Angels were an expansion team, played in their first Major League game, and were called the Califofnia Angels. The team was originally started by an old time country singer, Gene Autry. Today they are called the Anaheim Angels of Anaheim. The Angels have retired six numbers from the best people and players of their history. They are: Gene Autry (Team Founder), Jim Fregosi, Rod Carew, Nolan Ryan, Jackie Robinson and Jimmie Reese.
Currently the Anaheim Angels have minor league affiliates in A,AA, and AAA. The AAA team is called the Salt Lake Bees and play in the Pacific Coast League. The current Anaheim Angel is located in Anaheim, California and is named Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The 2010 Major League All Star game was held at Angel Stadium.
Since becoming the Anaheim Angels the team has won American League Championships in 1979,82,86,2002,05,and 09. They won the World Series in 2002 over the San Francisco Giants.
In the Anaheim Angels history they have had two players that were Most Valuable Player Award winners, Don Baylor (1979), and Vladimir Guerrero (2004). They have had two Cy Young Award winners, Dean Chance (1964) and Bartolo Colon (2004). The Angels have had one Rookie of the Year Award winner, Tim Salmon (1993).
Angels history has seen some very good pitching accomplishments. They have had one perfect game and eight no hitters. The perfect game was thrown by Mike Witt on April 11,1990. There were five different pithcers that had no hitters; Bo Belinsky, Clyde Wright, Mark Langston, Ervin Santana and Nolan Ryan, who hurled four of them.

The Anaheim Angels are literally and figuratively in the heat of the American League West division championship race. If the Angels win the division championship, there should be a great deal of credit given to the rookies on the team. Mark Trumbo, Mike Trout, Jordan Walden, Hank Conger and Peter Bourjos are just a handful of rookies that are contributing mightily to the Anaheim Angels cause.

Peter Bourjos and Mike Trout fly around the outfield playing stellar defense. They look like a blur when they are running the bases because they are so fast. Bourjos has 18 stolen bases this season. He also chips in on the offensive side of the ball. He has slugged nine home runs and has 41 extra base hits. For the limited time Trout has been up with the club, he has shown that he can hit the ball. He can also play any outfield position. With that type of talent he can give the veterans an occasional rest.

Holding down the bag at first base is Mark Trumbo. Trumbo is a candidate for rookie of the year. He is outstanding at first with an uncanny ability to dig out the low throws. He leads rookies in home runs and RBIs. Barring injury, he should be with the angels for a long time.

Conger and Walden round out the handful as battery mates. Walden became the closer for the team shortly after the season started. Since then he has pitched quite a few saves. Conger has spent time behind the dish and calls a good game. So, all hail to the rookies and keep lighting up that halo.

The Anaheim Angels have a very interesting history. In fact, their name stems from the original Los Angeles Angels team that literally came from the “City of Angels” meaning behind the city of Los Angeles back in 1892. They were first part of the major league (now minor) of the West Coast called the Pacific Coast League (PCL) back in 1903. It was rather interesting because the PCL actually paid more than the MLB. Top players such as Ted Williams & Joe DiMaggio were apart of the PCL.

The Angels have a tradition of playing the song “Calling All Angels” by Train. Also, they have a tradition of shooting fireworks from the rock formation called “California Spectacular” after someone hits a home run or wins the game. The Angels have a number of big name rivalries such as New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Texas Rangers. The Angels’ popularity even reaches out into films such as the Disney film, “Angels in the Outfield” , and “The Naked Gun”. They continue to get renovations due to the takeover by the Walt Disney Company bringing back the “Big A” logo on the uniform.

The team now known as the Anaheim Angels started play in Major League Baseball in 1961, although the “Angels” name dates back much further. The original Angels franchise started play in 1892 in what is now known as the Pacific Coast League.

Country singer Gene Autry was the team’s original and longtime owner before he sold the team to the Walt Disney Company in 1997. Disney then sold the team to current owner Arte Moreno in 2003. Moreno became the first Hispanic owner of a major American sports franchise.Didn’t catch that? This explains it.

The Angels have qualified for the post-season nine times in their history, including six times from 2002-2009. The team won their first and only World Series championship in 2002, defeating the San Fransisco Giants in seven games.

The Angels have gone through several name changes since debuting in the league. From 1961-1966 they were known as the Los Angeles Angels. From 1967-96 they were known as the California Angels. In 1997 they changed to the Anaheim Angels, and in 2005 adopted their current name, The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

In their history, the Angels have retired the numbers of Jim Fregosi (11), Gene Autry (26), Rod Carew (29), Nolan Ryan (30), Jackie Robinson (42, retired leaguewide in 1997) and Jimmy Reese (50).
